Four types of automotive wire are available for use in truck, trailer, and marine applications. All are stranded bare copper construction. The GPT wire has a PVC jacket. The SXL, GXL, and TXL have a crossed-linked-polyethylene jacket, which is resistant to grease, oil, gasoline, and acids. The SXL has a standard wall jacket, while the GXL has a thin wall jacket, and TXL has an extra thin jacket. All three are temperature rated to 257°F (125°C), and are typically used in high temperature areas such as engine compartments. These wires meet all the SAE specifications for their type.
